For the next 4 years, Dorian battled cancer with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. After 3 relapses, Dorian gained his angel wings on March 8, 2016.
He had an advanced intellect and understanding of life. His blue eyes were piercing and his dimples were endearing.
During his battle, Dorian inspired family and friends with bravery and courage.
He also inspired a nation.
When Dorian learned his cancer no longer responded to treatment, he told his father he wanted to be famous in China, at The Great Wall.
A simple Facebook post caught the attention of the world, and what was once a family-used slogan became an internet sensation:
#Dstrong went global.
Photographer Robyn Ivy witnessed firsthand the outpouring of support for Dorian and his family.
She wanted to use photography to support other families facing cancer—to encourage kids to never give up.
Robyn now had a mission: to increase support for the underfunded area of pediatric cancer research.
And that's how PROJECT 3.8 was born.
